Battle Creek Housing Strategy

The City of Battle Creek is updating the Master Plan to include a Housing Strategy. As the city addresses housing issues and upcoming economic growth, we need your input on:

  • What types of housing fits your neighborhood's character, what infrastructure improvements are needed, and how to ensure longtime residents aren't displaced by rising housing costs? 
  • Workforce housing needs, employee commuting patterns, and the types of housing that would strengthen Battle Creek's economic competitiveness.
  • Understanding development feasibility, identifying regulatory barriers, and exploring opportunities to meet the housing needs of both current residents and the incoming workforce. 

These 90-minute roundtables will be highly interactive, featuring hands-on mapping exercises and prioritization activities rather. We'll focus on two key areas: what it takes to make housing development feasible in Battle Creek today, and how the city can best support housing for all. Light refreshments will be provided, and your input will directly shape policies including zoning updates and development incentives.
